About me
I am employed as an Associate Professor at DaCHE – Danish Centre for Health Economics. I have also acted as an expert advisor to the committee for remuneration of general practice (Honorarstrukturrådet for almen praksis).
My research is focused on the market for health care services. More specifically, financial incentive schemes targeted health care professionals, health care professionals’ motivational profiles and wellbeing, and inequality in patients’ access to care. I develop theoretical models and perform quantitative analyses using data from administrative registers, surveys, and laboratory experiments.
I have recently co-authored a book chapter on payment models in primary care under European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies. This chapter provides an overview of key payment models and international experiences. Read more here: Link. Another recent publication in Social Science & Medicine sheds light on how not only financial motivations but also other motivations may contribute to providers’ utility (satisfaction) – and thereby provides both a theoretical and empirical contribution to healthcare provider agency: Link.
I have been awarded the Semper Ardens Accelerate grant from The Carlsberg Foundation. The grant supports “The WELLCARE project”, which aims to to assess the importance of physicians’ wellbeing for their provision of care and responses to policies that seek to improve quality of care. The project is a collaboration with excellent national and international researchers.
